If AI Designs It, Who Signs It? Considering the Legal and Ethical Issues for the Use of AI by Engineers
Tuesday, October 27th
3:30pm-4:30pm EDT
About the Session
The practice of engineering is facing rapid change and even potential transformation through the use of artificial intelligence. When used well, AI can increase the efficiency, safety, and quality of engineering services. Still, engineers must consider the legal and ethical issues that accompany the use of AI, such as confirming the reliability and accuracy of AI output, demonstrating competence, and maintaining responsible charge in the practice of engineering. This seminar will equip engineers with the considerations for leveraging AI tools in the practice of engineering while also maintaining compliance with their ethical and legal obligations.
