Andy Ciancia is a Senior Consultant with Langan Engineering with over 50 years of geotechnical engineering experience. He was Chairman of the Board at Langan from 2015 to 2021. Starting in 2019, Andy has been Senior University Lecturer at the New Jersey Institute of Technology teaching Geotechnical Engineering and Foundation Design classes. Andy holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering (CE) from Rutgers University and is vice-chair of the Rutgers CE Industry Advisory BOD. He is a PE in 9 states and a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Andy was a member of the ACECNY Scholarship Committee from 1992 to 2015. Andy served on the ACECNY BOD from 2001 to 2006 and was ACECNY Chairman from 2004 to 2005. He was chair and member of the ACEC EEA Committee from 2007 to 2025 and is presently on the BOD of the ACEC Geo-Professional Coalition. For the past 20 years, Andy has served on technical committees for the NYC Department of Buildings updating revisions to the Building Code, Existing Buildings Code, and the new Waterfront code. He is an active member of The Moles, National Academy of Construction, and Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) and is an ASCE Fellow.
In 2018, Andy was named Engineer of the Year by ACEC New York and Civil Engineer of the Year by the ASCE Metropolitan Section. He received the Industry Partner award from SEAoNY in 2025. Andy is a proud member of ACEC and ACECNY for many years!
