April Rai is a seasoned executive with nearly two decades of experience leading across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She began her career in government affairs and public health, where she advanced policy initiatives at the University of Maryland, School of Nursing. She went on to serve as CEO of a national transportation safety coalition and later as Deputy Executive Director at WTS International, where she championed women’s leadership in transportation.

In December 2021, April became President & CEO of COMTO, where she leads strategic efforts to ensure transportation systems serve all communities across 40 chapters in North America. Known for her collaborative leadership and policy expertise, she works to advance opportunities through transportation investment.

April also contributes her insights as a board member on several national transportation organizations, including the Mineta Transportation Institute and in 2022 an appointment to the WMATA Board by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
