2025 COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

For more than 25 years, Wallace Smith, PE, has dedicated himself to strengthening his community through service that is both personal and profound. His leadership spans numerous causes, from serving on the boards of Women & Children First, Goodness Village, and Methodist Family Health to mentoring students and young engineers through Junior Achievement and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has also championed initiatives to expand STEM opportunities for future generations.

Wallace’s commitment reaches far beyond organizational leadership. For nearly three decades, he has donned the suit of Santa Claus to bring joy and dignity to women and children in shelters across Arkansas. He has visited childhood cancer patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, organized life-saving blood drives with the Red Cross, and emceed fundraisers generating hundreds of thousands of dollars for vital community programs. Whether helping build a new domestic violence shelter, raising awareness for Alzheimer’s, or supporting veterans through his longtime involvement with the VFW, Wallace’s impact is felt across the state and beyond.

For his generosity, servant leadership, and unwavering dedication to others, ACEC proudly honors Wallace Smith, PE, with the Community Service Award.

BIO

Mr. Smith is a former Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War (1990-91). Upon returning from overseas in 1991, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. As the Director of Federal Services for Garver, he executes planning and design projects for the Air Force, USACE, NAVFAC, Marines, and the Army and Air National Guard. Mr. Smith has served coast to coast as Program Manager for many ID/IQ Contracts around the country focused on vertical and horizontal design projects.

He has managed, and successfully executed, projects in 47 of the 50 states, all the American Territories, and several OCONUS locations.

When Mr. Smith is not being a husband, father, or working, he is most likely working on various non-profit endeavors. When you engage Mr. Smith in conversation, you may find yourself volunteering at a future event!
