Dan Allwardt has spent more than 30 years at KPFF working at the confluence of engineering, business leadership, and professional risk. A structural engineer by training, Dan founded KPFF’s Sacramento office and led it for more than 20 years, growing it into a successful multidisciplinary consulting practice.

Today, Dan is a Principal and Director of Risk Management at KPFF, where he leads the firm’s claims-management activities and works with project teams and firm leaders on risk-management strategy, professional liability, contracts, training, and dispute resolution.

His experience as an engineer, firm leader, risk manager, and expert witness gives him a practical perspective on how everyday project decisions can create—or reduce—business risk. Dan focuses on helping consulting professionals recognize risk earlier, communicate more clearly, and exercise sound professional judgment when projects become complicated.
